Bria’s Business Tips- Self-Care is Essential to 6-Figure Success

August 24, 2009 · 1 Comment

I came back from my business mentoring completely WIPED OUT.  I don’t think I’ve ever grown so much in a 4 day period.  And I don’t remember crashing that hard before, either.  I was just wiped.  I played some with my kids and then took a 2 hour nap.  I took a long bath.  I slept 10 hours that night.

What is amazing is that today, the very next day, I have sprung back to my normal, “energizer bunny” self.  It always astounds me how listening to our bodies when they tell us “slow down” …”take a break”…”get some rest”… really HELPS us on our journey to achieve great heights.

We simply CAN”T be highly successful without self-care along the way.  The clients I see quit or burnout (or never really get started) are the ones who don’t listen to their bodies’ plea for breaks.

Blessings to you as you listen to your body and take essential breaks when they are needed!

Mastermind Group support is so critical to the entrepreneur

August 21, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Here I am in Arizona with my Platinum mentor and mastermind group.  We had so much fun learning, brainstorming and pulling each other forward. We all had some time to stand up and present our business, wherever we were, and receive coaching and fresh ideas.  I had lots to say to everyone – but that is nothing new!

I, too, learned some really valuable tips on how to grow my business.  And, with the laughter and good energy- it was fun!

This camaraderie and support is so valuable for solo-entrepreneurs because running your own business can be lonely and isolating.

Which is why I insist on a 2 day LIVE retreat with group masterminding as one piece of my “Step Into Your Power Platinum Coaching Group”.   I hand pick those who are admitted into the program to ensure everyone is a “good fit.”  And, my other requirement is that the group is SMALL (smaller than what you see in this picture) so everyone gets the individual attention they deserve.

The Power of Platinum

August 20, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I remember sitting at a “boot camp” event in LA with a guru speaker and coach, listening to his “platinum clients” who sat in a long line on a stage and talked about their experiences.  They all raved about the benefits of being in a “platinum” group.

At the time, I thought “that must be way too expensive”.  That was my first thought!  If these people could have the kind of results they were talking about, it must cost so much money, I couldn’t possibly afford it.

That was my thinking then- when I was stuck making low-mid 5-figures and FRUSTRATED because I had no idea HOW to grow my business without working a lot more hours (which I refused to do then and I still refuse to do).

Fast forward to now – I am not only in a platinum group, I run my own.  And I feel the same way those other entrepreneurs felt about being “platinum”.  I make a LOT more money, I do NOT work more hours, and I love what I do.  My business is soulful because it is a natural extension of who I am.  I get to help others live a balanced, rich lives- by helping them create their own signature systems- and that energizes and excites me to no end!

What shifted my perspective from “no way- too expensive” to “yes way, this is really worth it!”?  Well… I opened my mind, I listened to a call on the topic, and I just finally “got it”.  I realized that to really GROW my business, without working more hours, I had to step up and INVEST in MYSELF.

My results have been staggering.  The same is true for my clients who have stepped into “platinum” with me.  Hear what one platinum client (who flew across country for our “one-day intensive”) has to say.

Julie is now aware of the VALUE of being in my Step Into Your Power Platinum Program.  And that is what makes all the difference- understanding the incredible value.

Let me give you a sneak peak of the 6 Primary Perks of participating in a well-crafted, high-content, high-value platinum coaching program.  You can use this list to evaluate any high-end coaching program you are considering.

PERK #1 -  You learn the skills you NEED to know in order to grow exponentially.  In short, the program must include some NEW TOOLS to help you fill the gaps in your current business.

PERK #2 – You get some LIVE interaction with your mentor coach.  There is nothing like meeting your mentor and receiving hands-on coaching for your business.  Make sure this is offered in your program.

PERK #3 – You receive one-on-one mentor coaching throughout the 7-9 months- with someone who has been where you are now and is currently at a place you want to be.  Private coaching is an essential component as it ensures you receive the individual attention you need to help you tackle obstacles that arise, manage your fears, and keep pulling you forward.

PERK #4Masterminding with other smart, motivated entrepreneurs offers you fresh ideas.  You never know what tips will click and the synergy of a mastermind group is remarkable.

PERK #5 – A high-end platinum coaching group FAR exceeds the progress you make in one-on-one coaching or various workshops.  (I used to “hodge podge” my learning as well- and it was only when I joined platinum that my income leapt forward).  The combination of learning NEW SKILLS, masterminding with others, and mentor coaching throughout 7-9 months as you IMPLEMENT what you have learned is what takes you to the next level.

PERK #6It’s not as expensive as you think!  The VALUE of what you learn, the confidence you gain, and the income you make as a result of an excellent platinum program FAR exceeds the amount you invest.

I encourage you to STEP UP and join a platinum program.  I’ve never met ANYONE who didn’t reap tremendous emotional and financial rewards.

Bria’s Business Tips- The Power of Full Authenticity

August 19, 2009 · 5 Comments

I am spending two days in Arizona with Kailash Sozzani- an amazing, highly intuitive, heart-centered woman.  She is also gifted in identifying what “colors” bring out your authentic personality and in coaching around any resistances that come up when you “step into who you are really are”.

Let me give you an example.  Most “autumns” command attention when they enter a room and have a lot of energy.  Many are happy being in the spotlight.

I completely saw how the clothes she put me in (which also had the flare and “uniqueness” of pieces that I like)- felt really good to wear.  However, I was resistant to the “be you you are all the time”- which for me, would include wearing my leopard heels not only for a night in Manhattan but also for a DAY event (!), because I have always felt I needed to minimize who I really am in the day time.

There are all kinds of reasons we shrink ourself- perceived social norms (who wears leopard heels in the DAY?  Crazy people?:), not wanting to step into our power, not wanting to outshine others, and so on.

And the point is- as I have learned from Kailash Sozzani- we need to be ourselves, all the time, no matter what!  The alignment that comes from full authenticity is an essential  piece of being able to command higher fees and charge what you are worth.

And I can tell you, this fresh perspective will stay with me forever.  And it feels GREAT not to have to pretend anymore.

So, if you come to Kendall SummerHawk’s October Money, Marketing and Soul event- you will see me in… my leopard heels- with a big smile on my face!

Bria’s Business Tips- Peacefulness in Business

August 12, 2009 · 1 Comment

I was struck by a fabulous quote at my yoga studio.  It said something like “Peace is not the absence of chaos.  Peace is the ability to be calm in the midst of chaos”.  (Actually it was longer, I think I like this quote better:)

Isn’t it true?  Peace is sometimes the absence of chaos.  Like, right now, as I sit outside on my screened in porch amongst trees, birds chirping, sunshine and the tranquility of the North Carolina environment I love.

Peace is also staying centered when life around us goes crazy.  You know what I mean.  Especially those times in our lives, in business and otherwise, when people over-react and you just have to wonder… “Don’t you know that life is short?  Does this really need to upset you as much as it does?”  Those are the times I try to pull back and find my peace- even when others can’t find theirs.

And, of course, I have moments when I over-react as well.  That is when I really need to reign myself in and practice what I preach- “Life is short.  Stay calm.  Everything can be worked out”.

May you enjoy a peaceful day- regardless of what is happening around you!

Bria’s Business Tips- Key Reason to Be An Entrepreneur

August 10, 2009 · Leave a Comment

It’s amazing to me that I my “baby boy” (yes, he’s probably spoiled and yes, he’s my only son) is going to college in four years!  Yikes.  I remember when kids are young, the days are long but the years go by quickly.   When they get older, both the days AND they years fly past you.

For me, it is the #1 reason to be an entrepreneur and work from home.  With good boundaries, you can set firm “work hours” based on YOUR schedule- which includes the needs of your family.  It has been hard, at times, to set those boundaries- especially when my kids are wanting my time and I can’t give it to them.  However, that challenge is greatly offset by the rich rewards of being financially independent, spending my own money on my values, modeling self-sufficiency for my son and daughters, and the tremendous fulfillment of running a business I genuinely love.

So, remember, time flies by… It’s a reminder to me to cherish my time with my children AND live my life so I am fulfilled and happy.

Catch the Spirit of Freedom

August 6, 2009 · 1 Comment

I had a good week at a South Carolina beach with my family and Mark’s extended family. (Mark and I have 11 parents between us so when I say “extended”- I mean…extended!)

I always rejuvenate on vacation- which is partly why I take so many! I come back refreshed and with the double the energy and excitement for my business. And I am convinced that taking breaks and vacations are the BEST way to create a 6-figure businesses with balance. Why work all the time and stop enjoying life – when you don’t have to?

Here is my daughter Mackenzi and I "chillaxing" (as she would say)- taking a break from our beach trip.

Here is my daughter Mackenzi and I "chillaxing" (as she would say)- taking a break from our beach trip.

As we recounted our highlights from the beach week, we all thought of the same night. Jaden, my youngest, says it was when we “built that awesome bonfire and made s’mores. Yummy!” My tween, teen and husband say it was the same night – when they got to ride “really killer waves”.

As I sat watching the three of them that night whooping and hollering in the big waves, feeling sorry for myself that I didn’t bring my bathing suit – I was suddenly struck with the thought… “since when do I care about being like everyone else?” It was at that moment that I decided to leap into the ocean in my red dress and ride the killer waves with my family. Now, THAT was fun!

With that spirit of freedom in mind – I encourage you to think outside the box and focus on the results you want – even when HOW you get those results isn’t always what you would expect.

3 Key Strategies To Stop Sabotaging Yourself

August 4, 2009 · 1 Comment

Many of my clients, who are on the verge of a breakthrough, teeter between two divergent paths. One is the path of staying exactly where they are- stuck in old routines, old patterns, and a life that is missing something substantial. The other path is a breakthrough into the life they really want.

I thrive on helping people make breakthroughs into more authentic power and profit- with balance. The authenticity is what connects them to their soul. Working part-time and taking plenty of vacations is what allows for the balance.

But to get there, you have to be willing to stop getting in your own way! Read on for 3 key strategies to stop sabotaging yourself.

Tip #1 – Stop listening to “others” and turn up the volume of your own authentic voice. “Others”, who hold you back, may be a spouse, friends, a relative, even some well-intentioned coaches. And they are welcome to their opinions. They are on their own journey and it’s easy for people to confuse their journeys with yours. But don’t let that stop you! Turn down their volumes.

Trust your intuition and follow the path, and the people, that will lead you to more profit, more authentic power and more fulfillment.

Tip #2 - Understand that fear and doubt are an opportunity for a breakthrough.

You must experience fears before you have a breakthrough.  It’s how you know that growth is just around the corner.

When you feel fear (or terror) in the face of an opportunity that initially feels really exciting, recognize that you have a choice- stay stuck OR take advantage of an opportunity that is on your spiritual path for growth.

Which one do you want?  I can tell you that when I’ve chosen the opportunities that excited yet scared me- my income sky-rocketed and my soul thrived.

Tip #3 – Stop trying to “be perfect” and wanting to “know it all right now”.

Wanting to “be perfect” and wanting to “know it all right now” holds a LOT of people back.  “Perfect” doesn’t exist, so the sooner you let that go, the better.  (All successes have unexpected curves along the way).  And you can’t know it ALL right now.  Nobody does- ever.  All brilliant businesses started with ideas, baby steps and learning along the way!

Let go of “perfection”, discard the urge to know it all right now, and invest in the right opportunity for growth.   That is the path I, and other successful entrepreneurs, have taken to reach much higher profit and fulfillment- with soul and balance.
